Covenant Health Peninsula Child & Adolescent Inpatient Services - Knox

Adolescent Inpatient Program

Hundreds of concerned parents call Peninsula for help each year. Our professionals work hard to evaluate each situation and recommend the most appropriate, least restrictive form of treatment. Some adolescents, however, may require inpatient hospital care to interrupt their self-destructive behavior.

By utilizing a team approach, Peninsula’s professional staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers and activities therapists begins to address the adolescent’s behavior while searching for underlying factors.

Children’s Services

These programs are designed for children who suffer from a learning disability/attention deficit disorder, behavioral problems or emotional difficulties stemming from a divorce, loved one’s death, or other major stress factors. And, unfortunately many of the children we treat have been emotionally, physically or sexually abused. Too often, children’s emotional and behavioral problems do not get better by themselves, but actually get worse if left untreated. Our programs are designed to provide professional help, identify necessary resources and increase the chances of a better quality adolescence and adulthood.

    Mental Health Resources & Therapy

Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health are often intertwined. Mental health issues can often lead to substance use disorder when people attempt to self-medicate. Co-Occuring Disorders, the presence of a mental health and substance use disorder, are common. Addressing mental health issues with treatment and/or proper mental health medications is crucial for overcoming addiction for those who are struggling with both.

    Regional Overdose Prevention Specialists (ROPS)

    Education | Naloxone Distribution

Regional Overdose Prevention Specialists (ROPS) are located throughout the state of Tennessee as a point of contact for training and education on opioid overdose and for overdose prevention through the distribution of naloxone.  From October 2017 through July 2025, the ROPS distributed more than 1,000,000 units of naloxone, more than 600,000 individuals have been trained on naloxone usage, and TDMHSAS has documented at least 114,000 lives saved because of naloxone distributed during that time.  Because of stigma and other factors, the department believes the actual number of lives saved is much higher.

The ROPS have varied backgrounds, including peer nurses who are in recovery, paramedics, and Certified Peer Recovery Specialists.  TDMHSAS has a total of 20 ROPS operating in 13 regional divisions across the state.  Click “Search for Your ROPS” below to search for your county or click this link for a printable map with contact information.
